Making Math More Real

We have been studying geometry in Math class. So on Friday, my class went on a sight seeing trip aroung the school and church looking for examples of the geometric concepts we have been studying in the world around us. The students found many examples of geometry in the world around them. Upon returning to the classroom, we worked to create a video showing some the the examples we found.

Admirable People in Our Lives

In the selection "A Kind of Grace," we read about how Jackie Joyner-Kersee worked as a young child to make her dreams come true. As a child she was sometimes discouraged, but continued to work to improve her skills.

Think about people who you admire. Select one of these people who has worked hard to realize a dream. Then tell us about that individual and what makes you admire them.

Writing in a Diary

Leigh Botts, the main character in the story Dear Mr. Henshaw, uses a diary to write about things that happen to him. Beverly Cleary used this writing style as a way of letting the reader get acquainted with Leigh.

Take a few moments and write about an experience you have had. Be sure to tell about the beginning, middle, and ending events in your post. Post your experience by this Thursday the 17th.
