Making Math More Real

We have been studying geometry in Math class. So on Friday, my class went on a sight seeing trip aroung the school and church looking for examples of the geometric concepts we have been studying in the world around us. The students found many examples of geometry in the world around them. Upon returning to the classroom, we worked to create a video showing some the the examples we found.

Looks like it was fun doing Geometry today. I guess it's good to know what shapes our world.

I think it helps a lot when you don't know what the shapes look like.

That was fun making that video. That's ALOT of different shapes and figures!!!!!!!!!!

I think its cool that the students got to chose their own pictures to take. That would be a cool math class to learn.

Wow! I never thought of examining the school to find polygons and angles. And I liked the smiley face on the Freidel’s jeep.

I think that the video makes you think outside the boxs. The video teaches you that you can find any shape or size in the world.

I had no idea that those shapes are in our world. I think i will pay more attention to all the shapes now.

It looks like it was fun tacking pictures and making the Slide Show. I wish I was there to do that and some shapes I didn’t even know what they were and what there names were.

That was alot of fun. I had no idea that there is so many geometric objects in the world(besides the ones you draw on paper.)

I can't believe we found all those shapes around us! I didn't realize Math is all around us.

That was really cool! I will get geometry better now. I also liked the music you picked out. My favorite part was when you took a picture of tire cover.

realive geometry is way better than in the books. It is cool because you get to see the world.

I had a lot of fun working on this project. It was really cool being able to find all those geometric shapes in our world. Who knew there was so many? I hope we get to do stuff like this next year!

@ Mrs. Patton, I had so much fun doing this. At first when I heard about it I thought it was going to be boring, but it really turned out to be fun. You sure really know how to make math fun. I hope you do this with your class next year.
